Festival of Lights
Festival of Lights is held in Provine Chapel the weekend following Thanksgiving, carrying on the tradition that began in 1986 under the direction of Dr. Richard Joiner. Over 30 Mississippi College faculty members join the Mississippi College Singers to present a program of music and scripture readings in the English tradition of Lessons and Carols. Each year, the festival begins and ends with the choir entering and leaving the chapel in darkness, singing "Of the Father's Love Begotten" as they carry individual candles. Also an integral part of the tradition is "Still, Still, Still," performed by the choir in candlelight before the recessional. The Festival of Lights is a worshipful experience steeped in tradition.
